What is a keyword research tool?
Keyword research turns a broad subject into a set of audience needs you can investigate. A useful keyword finder separates the idea itself from evidence about demand. MailCannon provides a starting point for topic exploration; it is not a search volume checker or keyword CPC checker.
How to find SEO keywords with MailCannon
Enter a seed topic and choose the language your audience uses. Review the sources: Wikipedia rows are retrieved topic titles; generated rows are language-template ideas. Narrow the list by text, intent or type. Select a shortlist, export it and validate those phrases against your audience, search results and a reliable demand provider.
Search volume, CPC and intent: different signals
Volume describes estimated search activity in a defined market and period. CPC describes paid-ad click costs. Intent describes what someone wants to achieve. None is a promise of conversions or organic rankings. This tool shows inferred intent and omits volume, CPC and CPM until a reliable provider is connected.
Long-tail keywords and question keywords
Specific phrases can clarify who a page is for and what it should answer. Compare a broad product name with a phrase that names an audience, use case or problem. Our four-word filter is a convenience, not evidence of low demand or low competition. Generated questions help outline research; confirm that they are meaningful before creating content.
How to assess keyword opportunities responsibly
Use the MailCannon opportunity score to organize ideas with specific wording, questions and commercial modifiers. Then review the actual results pages: their intent, the quality of existing answers, and what original evidence you can add. This tool does not analyze backlinks, SERP competition or keyword difficulty, so a higher score never means easier rankings.
Find blog content ideas that answer a real need
Group related phrases into one audience problem rather than publishing a separate thin page for every variation. Turn a question into an outline, identify the evidence needed to answer it, and add practical examples. The Content Ideas view supplies deterministic article directions; it does not write an article or validate a factual claim.
Keyword research for email marketing and SaaS
For email products, investigate deliverability questions, newsletter workflows and automation use cases. For SaaS, compare audiences, onboarding needs and product alternatives. Use the audience’s own language from support questions and interviews to refine the seed. Keywords can inform newsletters and landing pages as well as organic search content.
Keyword research for ecommerce
Start with a product category, then examine buying considerations such as compatibility, materials and use cases. Keep informational guides distinct from product and category pages when their purposes differ. Generated buying phrases need validation; the presence of a commercial modifier alone does not prove purchase intent or profit.
Questions, GEO and AI search opportunities
Clear definitions, practical how-to explanations and fair comparisons make content easier to understand and cite. Use the Questions & GEO view as an outline aid. Give direct answers with supporting evidence and update them when facts change. No keyword pattern can guarantee appearance in an AI-generated answer.
Keyword Research FAQ
What is a keyword research tool?
A keyword research tool helps you explore terms and topics your audience might use. MailCannon combines Wikipedia topic titles with labeled, template-generated phrases to help plan research. It does not observe Google searches.
Is this keyword research tool free?
Yes. Discovery, filtering, copying and exports are free without an account. Requests are rate-limited to protect the service.
How do I find SEO keywords?
Start with a topic, product or problem. Explore related topics, long-tail ideas and questions, then verify the ideas against your audience and current search results before choosing what to publish.
What is keyword search volume?
Search volume is a provider’s estimate of searches for a term over a time period and market. This tool currently has no search-volume provider, so it does not display volume estimates or exact search counts.
What does CPC mean in keyword research?
CPC means cost per click in paid advertising. It varies by campaign, audience, market and time. MailCannon has no connected CPC provider and does not display invented CPC or CPM values.
What are long-tail keywords?
Long-tail keywords express more specific needs. This tool uses four or more words as a simple filtering rule. Word count alone does not establish demand, competition or a keyword’s position on the search-demand curve.
How do I find question keywords?
Use the Questions view. MailCannon detects question wording and creates labeled question ideas from your topic. Generated questions are prompts for research, not proof that people searched for them.
What is search intent?
Search intent is the purpose behind a query: learning, comparing, taking an action or reaching a particular site. MailCannon infers intent from modifiers. This heuristic can be wrong and is not an official Google classification.
How is the opportunity score calculated?
The score starts at 20, adds 5 per word up to 8 words, 15 for four or more words, 15 for a question, and 15 for commercial intent or 10 for transactional intent, capped at 100. It compares structural content signals, not demand, CPC, competition, ranking probability or SEO difficulty.
Are the search-volume numbers exact?
No search-volume numbers are displayed in the current discovery mode. Wikipedia titles and generated phrases are not Google Keyword Planner data. A future provider integration would need to label its metrics and limitations explicitly.
Can I export keyword results?
Yes. Select keywords or export the filtered list as UTF-8 CSV, JSON or TXT. CSV and JSON include provenance and heuristic fields. TXT contains one keyword per line. Copy All copies the complete result set.
Can I use these keywords for blog content?
Yes. The Content Ideas view provides template-based article directions. Validate relevance, add original expertise and sources, and review the phrasing before publishing. This view does not use AI.
Can I use keyword research for email marketing?
Yes. Research customer questions to plan newsletters, product education and email campaigns. For email-related topics, the tool links to relevant MailCannon writing and deliverability tools.
Can keyword research help with GEO or AI search?
Question and comparison structures can help plan useful, answer-oriented pages. They do not guarantee inclusion in AI answers. Clear explanations, reliable sources and original evidence matter more than a template score.
Can I target a particular country?
The current Wikipedia source is language-based and cannot supply country-specific suggestions or metrics. Country targeting is disabled. The provider interface supports country-aware sources for a future integration.
What happens to my searches?
Your topic is sent to MailCannon and Wikipedia to retrieve suggestions. MailCannon temporarily caches results. Recent-search storage is optional, local to your device and can be cleared. Search text is not included in the tool’s analytics events. Shareable URLs include your topic, so avoid sensitive inputs.
